The disenchantment after the 1960s gave a new impulse to the movement for Appropriate Technology, considered as alternative, liberatory. The movement had already been inspired by Lewis Mumford, Paul Goodman, Dwight Macdonald and, last but not least, by Schumacher, whose book Small is Beautiful was most influential.
