This article, which exceeds the label of realist painter commonly attributed to Gustave Courbet, gives visibility to a whole life dedicated to the struggle against the centralizatoin forces, against terror and the consequences ofthe manifestation of refusal that culminated in the exile in Switzerland. His friendship with Proudon is the line that weaves art and political action.
