As may be expected, anarchists adopted a variety of positions about sexual politics, equality or patriarchy. The traditional movement adhered to strict gender roles; it was masculine-dominated, avoided organizing female-oriented political movements like the right to vote. Other currents, however, fought for many issues such as birth control or free love.
